Zurich, October 5th, 2022KimboCare has signed a contract with the Swiss Re Foundation, part of Swiss Re, a world’s leading insurer, to roll out an innovative outcome-based health program for pregnant women in Kenya, starting fall 2022.

Supported by the Swiss Re’s Life & Health Sustainability Initiative, the Swiss Re Foundation collaborates with KimboCare, an early-stage venture whose mission is to enable better health and well-being for financially underserved communities, to reinforce its commitment to advancing healthcare access in developing regions.

"We believe in KimboCare's potential to make healthcare more available, accessible, and affordable." says a Manager at the Swiss Re Foundation.

Thanks to its innovative concept of “health credits”, a Blockchain-enabled technology, the KimboCare platform allows better traceability of medical services delivered to a low-income patient, promoting health equities in global health access.

The EPFL-born startup KimboCare, which is very active in its primary market of health credits purchased by African diasporas for their loved ones, is scaling up its engagement with SMEs, large enterprises, and other organizations to accelerate its impact.

“We are very excited to see this strategic development further validated by contracts with high-profile organizations. We look forward to working with Swiss Re and Swiss Re Foundation staff, alongside our local partners (medical providers, NGOs, and public institutions) to make this collaboration a success”, say the founders of KimboCare.

More to come on this unprecedented collaboration to advance equity in healthcare access and delivery. Kenya-based patients interested in participating can already create a free account on app.kimbocare.com.

About KimboCare

KimboCare enables transparency in the delivery of quality medical services. Our Swiss-made technology platform enables our clients worldwide to purchase medical health services in the form of Health Credits, our innovative concept, for patients with limited financial means; those patients in turn use those health credits at dedicated medical partners in developing regions. Our health credits provide clients with transparency, peace of mind, and flexibility - all attributes not available with other existing solutions (remittances or insurance). With KimboCare’s end-to-end digital platform, clients support access to health services as often and as reliably as they desire.

KimboCare has enabled access to healthcare for patients across Kenya, Ivory Coast, and Cameroon. Its work has been featured in a plethora of news streams including Microsoft, Galen Growth, and BBC.

KimboCare is the winner of the 2021 Impact InnovationAward by the New-York based Herbert and Audrey Rosenfield Fund for the novelty and transformative potential of its technology to impact healthcare access around the world.
